In the 1961 yearbook, there are two band photos. It is difficult to determine if they are one band separated into two groups for photo purposes or if there was a senior band and junior band.
The year of 1961 was a big one for Wilson. The district built a new gymnasium and the school building got an extensive renovation. As for the band, they adopted a new symbol to represent the band.....the Warrior head. In addition, the John Philip Sousa Band Award was established this year. The award was given to one male and one female of the senior class who participated in band. In its first year, the award went to Richard Brasefield and Bonnie Bastka.

During this year, the band attended the Philadelphia Eagles game at Franklin Field and played for 61,000 people.
Raylene Frankenfield and Thomas Miller were the recipients of the John Philip Sousa Award.

This was Mr. Curnow's first year as a band director at Wilson Area High School. The yearbook notes that a new method of marching was developed.
Arrangements included: Hey Look Me Over, Them Basses, Burst of Trumpets, South Rampart St. Parade, Boilermakers, Cherokee.

During the summer, the band traveled to New York City to perform in the Lion's Convention Parade.
Arrangements included: March of the Charioteers, Maria, Latin America, God Bless America, When Johnny Comes Marching Home

At this time, the twirlers were still wearing hats and plumes and received new ones this year.
In July, the band traveled to Chicago to attend the International Lion's Parade.

1969

During the band season, the musicians received new uniforms. The uniforms had a removable white overlap with a Wilson Warrior on the back. It was worn over a blue jacket. A gold plume was worn with the hat.
The band marched in the Easton Halloween Parade, the Lafayette Alumni Parade and the Veterans Parade. The twirlers performed at a few basketball games.
This was the first year that Color Guard was added to the band. The color guard was an all female team. It included two members holding the banner. The other 11 members held the rifles and various flags.
