In 1951, the WHS Band were garnished with new uniforms yet again. There were 64 musicians in the band. In addition to the 3 majorettes, 12 twirlers were also added to the band. The majorettes wore a white uniform and the twirlers wore a gold uniform. This tradition stayed with the band for many years and through 2001. Arthur Garner was the advisor of the majorettes and twirlers.

Majorettes were Barbara Kreidler, Elaine Hofschild, and Barbara Pierson.

The band was comprised of 85 musicians, 12 twirlers, and 3 majorettes.


The band hired a new Director of Twirling, Julia Brunner. The band performed with the US Army Band in the year, and it is reported that the twirlers tap danced.


FUN FACT: In 1953, the school board purchased land south of the school which was eventually to be used for a new football stadium. Wondering what field that was and what happened to the new stadium.

There were 70 musicians, 3 majorettes, 12 twirlers, and 4 color guard members.

This was Mr. Curnow's senior year. He was known for running a "mean half mile" and being the life of the party. He was also voted Best Dancer of the senior class.

In June, the band traveled to Miami, Florida to march in the Lion's Club Parade. The band took 4th place.

FUN FACT: Ruth Ann Gibbs is credited with being the first female student director of the Wilson Band.

The band marched in the Easton Community Chest Parade. The yearbook mentions that Mr. Filer was out with an illness in October. Mr. Sherry filled in for him.
